What You'll Be Doing
We are searching for a creative designer to join our team! A Digital Designer at Top Floor will be responsible for custom designing engaging websites for our clients that elevate their brand, achieve their business objectives, and present a powerful user experience to their audience. You will work directly with our clients, as well as the Manager of Digital Design, our SEO specialists, and development team to establish the site’s look and feel, navigation system, functionality, and architecture. The Digital Designer is involved in every step of the web design process, from project kickoff to post site launch. We are looking for someone who is a critical and strategy driven thinker, that enjoys working on a variety of projects, is open to learning new things every day, and who gives a shit!
Your initial training and everyday tasks may include:
- Putting together a competitor analysis
- Constructing a sitemap
- Designing a website homepage and set of interior page templates
- Presenting designs to clients in-person or virtually
- Communicating and providing detailed specifications to the developer about the intended functionality of the website build
- Leading a CMS admin training session with a client
- Entering or reviewing content in the CMS
- Performing Quality Assurance Testing
- Designing PPC ads, email templates, social media templates, brochures, sell sheets, eBooks, infographics, and print projects
- Sourcing, clipping, and editing images
- Becoming proficient with a variety of software tools and platforms
Job Requirements
Who We're Looking For
- At least 2 years of website design, graphic design, visual communication, or equivalent experience
- A few solid portfolio examples that demonstrate visual design concepts and execution
- Ability to strategize and collaborate closely with developers, project managers, and marketing specialists
- Strong design, layout, navigation, and visual communication skills, with a close attention to detail
- Advanced skills with Adobe Creative Suite
- A customer-focused mindset, using human-centered design as a source of inspiration to solve complex problems
- Strong understanding of web usability interactions: eCommerce experience design, responsive design, UX best practices, industry trends, common challenges, and solutions to those challenges
- Basic familiarity with HTML and CSS
- Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision to organize and prioritize multiple projects, meet production standards, and maintain a flexible schedule
- Comfortability in solely communicating and presenting creative ideas, and articulating the rational for the decisions that led to it
- Experience with standard software systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- The desire for professional growth within the company
Valued Additions
A Plus, But Not Required
- Fluency in HTML/CSS
- Familiarity with WordPress and/or Drupal content management tools
- Familiarity with a variety of wireframing and prototyping design tools such as Figma or Sketch
- Familiarity with Accessibility best practices
- General understanding of Search Engine Optimization
- Experience with usability testing
- Experience in logo design and branding guideline creation
- Experience with user journey mapping and persona development
- Experience shooting product photography
- Experience in video editing and basic animations
