Google recently began to roll out a major update to its search engine algorithm. (The algorithm is the formula they use to predict the best pages to deliver when someone enters a search query into Google). This is the second phase of the Penguin Update that began last year. The purpose of this update is to demote websites that utilize links from low-quality websites; these links are sometimes referred to as spammy links. At Top Floor, we utilize tactics and strategies that are consistent with Google's Guidelines for Webmasters; therefore we don't anticipate any trouble with websites whose SEO we manage. However, as we've seen in the past, Google's updates sometimes cause problems even for sites that adhere to their guidelines. We will keep an eye on this update as it rolls out. If any of our SEO clients experience impacts from Penguin 2.0, we will work with them to develop a strategy to restore performance as soon as possible. If you don't yet have an SEO plan with us, click here to request a free audit in which we will assess your site's search engine performance and its readiness for Penguin 2.0.
